Art in Clay Museum & Creative Institute

Context/Brief
Art in Clay Museum and Clay Creative Institute is a final graduation project of 3rd batch Yangon School of Interior Design under the category “Public space”. In Myanmar, potteries stuck in the unnoticeable corner at every household, and clay only associates with the lower income families, which most people do not recognize the value of the craft. Thus, this project try to create a new kind of space and engage interactions within the building in and out.

Location
The site location for the project had been chosen at over 120 years old colonial building located at Insein, Yangon, formerly it was Government Technical Institute (GTI). The school opened in 1985, and shut down in 1996 for political crisis in the country. Therefore, in this project, the existing building is used to imagine new program and give a new interpretation for the development of the city, and experiences.
