Context/Brief
The hub of train station in Bangkok, The bangkok station (Hua Lamphong Station) is a total appxo. 190,000sqm land plot which has been used 104 years for transportation across the country. Re cently, the state railway of Thailand plans to move the hub of trains to new station “Bang Sue” and redevelop “Hua Lamphong Station” as creative district. “Lanes of Memories” is a program proposal for the architecture design for development studio, KMUTT.
Connecting with existing
one Depot building, an existing building in the station is where the trains are being repaired, and maintained daily. The depot building can be seen as a warehouse/factory prototype architecture with the distinctive roof.
Proposal Program
The hub of train station is a point of meetings and departure, story of communities and city of Bang kok. In a way Hua Lamphong station is witnessing and recording from historical events to daily life of the Bangkokian and visitors. So, as a metaphor, It is just like a camera. Lanes of Memories rep resenting memories of Hua Lamphong and SRT vision in general.
